County appoints two to Green Cove Springs redevelopment board

Commissioners appointed Kristen Burke and Heather Boucher to the Community Redevelopment Board. Burke represents Green Cove Springs on the county commission. Boucher is the county auditor.

Clay commissioners authorized the city’s community redevelopment area and governing board earlier this year to use a portion of the redevelopment area’s property taxes to make improvements to an approximately 60-block stretch along Orange and Palmetto Streets between Governors Creek and Ferris Street. The redevelopment district also includes blocks straddling Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Spring and Walnut Streets.

Green Cove Springs council members earlier appointed former mayors Mitch Timberlake and Van Royal to the redevelopment board. Under the county ordinance that authorized the redevelopment area, the four board members will select a fifth and final member.
