County moves forward on $1.5 million trail grant

The Board of County Commissioners’ budget and finance committee moved approval of a $1.5 million state grant to the full board’s Oct. 25 consent agenda.

The funding will be used to pave Live Oak Lane west of Middleburg to the entrance of Jennings State Forest in addition to parking areas, restroom facilities, trails, and other associated needs. The overall purpose is expanding greenways in Clay County to provide additional opportunities for outdoor recreation, exercise, and greenspace preservation, connecting greenways in Clay County with trails in neighboring counties, including Duval, St. Johns, Putnam, and Bradford.
